About Us
Doug Swenson brings over 15 years of successful technology management and technology consulting experience to Brightcore Consulting. As President and CTO, Doug provides our clients will valuable advice on strategic planning, future products, our services and infrastructure with a uniquely technical competence.
Prior to forming Brightcore Consulting, Doug held management positions for several key players within the Information Technology community. Doug was the Manager of Engineering at etNetworks. While at etNeworks, he helped design and implement the delivery of video-on-demand educational content over satellite for IBM Learning Services and Cisco Systems. Later, with Convergent Systems, Doug collaborated with Cisco Systems again to design a global satellite network to deliver internal training and live events via IPTV.
Most recently, Doug was the Chief Technology Officer for Silver State Helicopters, a helicopter flight training academy with over 32 locations across the United States, where he deployed and managed a nationwide company network architecture for over 750 employees and 2400 students. His previous experience with IBM and Cisco allowed him to spearhead the development of the SSH Distance Learning Program, which standardized helicopter ground school for the industry while increasing operational effectiveness for students and instructors alike. That program was an industry first for the rotorcraft industry and saved SSH almost $3 million in training costs during the first year of implementation.
Swenson received his Bachelor of Science in Management and Systems Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY. He holds many industry certifications and is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE).

Appleton has been a career technology guru, gaining his first IT certification on Microsoft Windows NT 3.51 back in 1998. His continued thirst for knowledge keeps him on the cutting edge on new technology. This allows him to keep our clients a step ahead of the competition and make informed decisions about new hardware, software and solutions.
Chris attended the University of Denver. He holds certifications from Microsoft, Cisco and CompTIA.

Brightcore Consulting was formed in 2006 by Doug Swenson, Chris Appleton and Jenifer Sprong - our founders. The right team at the right time is how we describe it to those who ask. By combining the executive level management skills, IT intellectual property and super creative solutions with hard work and dedication, Brightcore has succeeded where our predecessors have failed. We do not have a mission statement, but these bullets describe who and what we are.
